A satire of the feminine - once titled Irene (Altar), Ebony Goddess, W2, Spiritual Guide, and now currently again called W2: this priestess of feminine authority adorned with jewels, stones, and minerals walks with an opulent stillness, emulating a radiant and deliberate presence. Her energy is exuberant and commanding — a mirror of the divine.
SHAPE-SHIFTING FEMININE ENERGY
W² (Goddess) is a character-driven work within Anti-House, Luísa Mota’s long-term exploration of archetypes, myth, and transformation. Pronounced “W squared,” the character embodies the feminine-water paradigm — a fluid, shapeshifting presence that channels the yin polarity through receptivity, intuition, and emotional depth. The work unfolds across multiple media: performance, moving image, collage, textile, and ritual gesture.
Since 2010, W² has manifested through films, performative actions, community encounters, and material works. Rather than a fixed icon, she emerges as a living metaphor of feminine divinity — relational, elusive, and transformative.
Another iteration of W2 is the ‘Goddess women silk piece’, a mystical piece that can be used for its transformative energetic qualities. In this work, the archetype of woman-goddess is explored through a 23 meter silk printed with goddesses images, most of them from performances of former iterations of W2.
