The Widows

The Widows are five women aged between 34 and 65. Dressed in black and wearing smoky eye make-up, the Widows circulate between the interior and exterior of the theatre. It is through them that the audience is accessed.

The role of the Widows involves ‘hunting’ for audience members to come in and accompany them to the space. The Widows do not necessarily speak, they are limited to five words: ‘Come,’ ‘you,’ ‘photo,’ ‘altar,’ ‘soul,’ and ‘blood,’ repeating them with enthusiasm, mystery, and seduction.
